Kelp Quilt

A wedding gift for a friend.

Green fabric is ice-dyed. Mostly found secondhand, some purchased new. Denim fabric is from secondhand shirts. Orange linen was gifted from a friend. Frond-like backing and stripe binding secondhand.

1” horizontal quilting by Marilyn’s Longarm Quilting in Lake Zurich, IL.

Scrap Work

Small wall-quilts made from scrap pieces and overlaid with floral lace.

Made with all secondhand fabrics. Hand pieced, quilted, and bound.

CLOUDS

I made this quilt as an expression of what it feels like to be a caregiver for an ailing parent, and to be working through the emotions of anticipatory grief.

Secondhand and vintage fabrics, secondhand cotton batting, cotton embroidery thread. Machine pieced and hand quilted.

Completed in June 2023.

Table Settings

These are three table settings/placemats. The two square ones are made from scrap Ace&Jig fabric.

Each 12 x 12”.

The rectangle one is made from a vintage napkin. It was cut apart and sewn back into a log cabin pattern.

Crazy Geese

This quilt is made from all secondhand materials. It’s a culmination of a few different first-tries. The center block features 3 flying geese, tilted and cut into a square. The quarter-square triangles were my first attempt at the blocks, and were also an attempt to use some “precious” fabric I had been saving.

Red and white striped fabric is 100% linen, purchased as scrap. The rest of the fabric was all sourced secondhand. Batting is 100% natural cotton that secondhand as well.

Machine pieced, hand quilted with yellow vintage crochet cotton.

Completed in March 2022.

Mary’s Quilt

This is Mary’s Quilt. Made of all secondhand materials. The white squares in the middle block, and the center square of the others is a folk fabric from 1970. It has a faint blue print on it.

As my first quilt, I was excited to work using all secondhand fabrics. The batting is a cotton/polyester blend and was secondhand as well.

Machine pieced and machine quilted.

Completed in December 2021.
