Wrapped Up in Spring

Not long ago, Mary from American Flora reached out to have a phone conversation with me on the topic of sustainability within fashion to talk about why we personally believe it is an important aspect of the ethicality of fashion. We bonded instantly, and after a great conversation, we decided it would be really great to collaborate and to have me write a blog post featuring American Flora

You see, what I love about American Flora is that it's made from a synthetic textile called Repreve. What's so special about Repreve? It's made from recycled water bottles! If you know me at all, you know how much I dislike single-use plastic, so it's great to see the life of the plastic bottle being extended instead of in a landfill or in the ocean taking thousands and thousands of years to biodegrade. Another great part about this brand is that it's made in the USA. You can read more about American Flora's start here

I chose the Tiles & Yellow Roses Wrap for this blog post because I thought the design was gorgeous and the colors matched up with my own personal style well. I'm going to admit that styling this was a challenge for me, mainly due to the fact that I don't tend to wear clothing items that have a lot of drape to them. I had a lot of fun playing around with it, though, and I seriously love the results. It's one of my favorite looks to date! Each wrap had original artwork printed on it made specifically for American Flora, this wrap's artwork is done by artist Leslie Alexander.

For this look, I loved how fun the print was and figured it was a great opportunity to mix prints! I felt this black and white spotted print complemented the tile wrap well, not being too busy to take away from it. The day we shot this look was also the first taste of spring for Chicago, so out came the legs!!! To complete the casual spring look, I topped it off with a denim jacket and converse sneakers.

Not only are American Flora pieces sustainably made, but they're made in America and they support local artists. I personally think that's pretty awesome. I hope you liked this post! Let me know what you think in the comments, and be sure to check out American Flora's shop!
