This past year has been a great one-- I had to move home to the suburbs and commute to school, I fell in love with the ocean, out of love with fashion, a personal relationship ended, I almost changed majors, fell in love with the environment, became inspired by ethical fashion, spent some good time outdoors, moved back to Chicago, started crafting and creating again, got hired at my favorite company, started a new blog, deleted that blog, re-did this blog, and here I am. The year is coming to a close and I am grateful for each and everything that has happened to me. It has definitely been a roller coaster of emotions, but for the first time in a long time, I truly feel like myself. I can honestly say I'm not the same person I was a year ago, but I'm better because of it.
Through all the changes this year, one thing that will never change is me shopping from my mom's closet whenever I stop home. I've always been fortunate enough to have a mother who is pretty much the same size as me (and willing to part ways with certain clothing items)! As of late, I've been having trouble finding a turtleneck that was either sustainably made, or a thrifted piece I really liked the fit of. Luckily, the perfect turtleneck was sitting right in mom's closet and now that I have it I'm able to extend the life of the garment!
It paired perfectly with my Anthropologie knit vest that had some damage that I mended, along with some denim skinny jeans I've been rocking since high school (the worn down knees are naturally made, hah). The boots are Dr Martens and are quite possibly the greatest boots I've ever owned. I made this purchase with the intent to have these for a long time and I can already tell that's exactly what they are going to do. These cozy, well-worn looks are no doubt my favorite part about dressing for colder weather!
Hope everyone has enjoyed their 2015 as much as I have. No doubt there was a lot of change for me, but change is good and I'm so excited to see what the new year brings! Wishing the best for everyone in 2016 :)
